Rona Bezman has been named a 2012 Five Star Wealth Manager by Chicago Magazine. This is third consecutive year Ms. Bezman has won the award.
Mollie T. Adams recently received the Journal of Accountancy Lawler Award for the best article of 2011. Along with colleagues, Ms. Adams wrote a piece on client debt reduction, which can be read online.

Announcements
Dorri McWhorter has joined YWCA Metropolitan Chicago as CEO. Previously, Ms. McWhorter was a partner with Crowe Horwath LLP.
Plante Moran plans to combine its Downtown Chicago offices beginning in early 2014. The firm will occupy space at 10 South Riverside Plaza.
Todd Welu recently joined Crowe Horwath LLP in Chicago as chief financial officer. Previously, Mr. Welu was with Westchester Group Investment Management Inc.
Dan Rahill and Seth Palatnik have joined FGMK, LLC. Mr. Rahill, the current Treasurer of the Illinois CPA Society Board of Directors, joins the firm as Partner-in-Charge of Tax Services. He was previously with KPMG. Mr. Palatnik joins the firm as lead partner of the Transaction Advisory Services. Prior to joining FGMK, Mr. Palatnik was with Willamette Management Associates.
Daniel J. Hollowed has joined Cornerstone National Bank & Trust Co. in Palatine as executive vice president, cashier and chief financial officer. Previously, Mr. Hollowed was finance director with Urban Partnership Bank.
The firm owned by Ken Goodwin in Morris is now named Ken Goodwin, CPA. Previously, the firm was known as Goodwin & McDonald CPA.
Sean LaFortune recently joined Mathieson, Moyski, Celer & Co., LLP, Accountants and Advisors in Wheaton as a manager. Previously, Mr. LaFortune was a finance manager with Switchboard Appartus, Inc.
Michael Silver & Company CPAs in Skokie merged in Gary R. St. Pierre CPAs of Mount Prospect in December 2012.The Gary R. St. Pierre CPAs team will join the new firm in its Skokie offices.
Carl George annouced his retirement from CliftonLarsonAllen after 42 years of service, including 16 years as CEO.
Jessica H. Schulman recently joined Topel Forman LLC in the tax practice. She brings over 12 years of experience to the firm and will focus on providing tax compliance and planning to high net worth indviduals and family limited partnerships.
R&M Consulting, led by Kim Rice, has joined forces with The Sales Tax Institute, a group of nine specialty that provide a wide range of tax services. The Sales Tax Institute is headed by Diane Yetter.
Bruce Thompson has joined Sikich LLP in Springfield as a tax partner. Previously, Mr. Thompson was a director of tax services for McGladrey LLP.
David Macknin was named president of Alper Serivce LLC. Mr. Macknin was previously principal at JMB Insurance.
Daniel Galante joined Grant Thornton LLP’s Chicago office as national managing partner, transaction advisory service practice, from practice leader, transaction advisory, at Alvarez & Marsal.
Kristofer Swanson accepted a position as forensic services partner and Midwest markets team leader with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago. Mr. Swanson was previously managing director and national forensic investigations leader at Navigant.
