Guidelines

  • Conventional Self-study: Only 60 hours of the total 120 hours required for Illinois licensure may consist of conventional self-study.

  • Interactive Self-study: Up to 80 hours of the total 120 hours required for Illinois licensure may consist of a combination of interactive self-study and conventional self-study.

NOTE: Each vendor's program listing identifies the number of credit hours that can be claimed.

Sponsors
Courses must be taken from sponsors registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) or Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). The Illinois CPA Foundation is an approved sponsor.

Note: CPE providers who are registered with NASBA are automatically approved in Illinois and do not need to obtain a separate Illinois sponsor license. The sponsor must keep their NASBA registration current for this provision to remain in effect.

To find out if an organization is a registered sponsor with the ILDFPR go to their website. In the Profession field choose: ACCOUNTANT PUBLIC CONT. ED. SP. Then in the LAST NAME OR BUSINESS NAME field, type the exact name of the organization (i.e. Illinois CPA Foundation - not Illinois CPA Society) .
